Sydney CBD is Sydney`s centre of the city`s commerce located between Darling Harbour and Pyrmont in the west, and Sydney Harbour and Woolloomooloo in the East. Location
History
The Cadigal clan were the original inhabitants of the area that makes up Sydney CBD today. Following an unsuccessful settlement in Botany Bay, the First Fleet landed at Sydney Cove on 26 January 1788, a day that is now celebrated annually as Australia Day. This location served as the focal point from which Sydney grew in the coming decades and centuries. By 1844 Sydney Cove was an operating working port. Sydney CBD developed into a commercial business centre from the 1960s onwards and began to feature the larger office buildings by which it is now aesthetically defined.

The pedestrianised Martin Place is situated in Sydney CBD`s centre and features a mix of historic and newer buildings in its midst. Historic Macquarie Street is found in Sydney CBD`s east, linking Hyde Park to the Domain, and the Royal Botanic Gardens. The world-renowned Sydney Opera House is located at the end of a peninsula jutting out into Sydney Harbour, between Circular Quay and the Royal Botanic Gardens, with the Sydney Harbour Bridge sitting in its background. Vistas of these two iconic architectural landmarks are often used photographically to symbolically represent Sydney to the world.
