History
Randwick is named after the village of Randwick in Gloucestershire, England, the birthplace of Simeon Henry Pearce, who was Mayor of Randwick six times in the 19th century. The Prince of Wales Hospital is one of the largest in New South Wales, and is the end result of a consolidation process of other hospitals in the Eastern Suburbs, such as the Coast Hospital, which no longer exists on its original site at Little Bay.
