Paddington is an inner-city suburb located three kilometres east of Sydney`s central business district, in the Eastern Suburbs. Location
History
Following European settlement, the first land grants made in the area that makes up Paddington today were made in 1823. The Victoria Barracks were developed as early as 1841 and the village of Paddington emerged around the same time with workers cottages generally located in the suburb`s south and more affluent villas found in Paddington`s north. The suburb was largely a slum for the first half of the 20th century but re-emerged as a trendy `Bohemian` district in the 1960s.

Oxford Street is the suburb`s primary commercial strip, with smaller but notable precincts also found on William Street and at Five Ways on Glenmore Road. The suburb is home to a number of iconic pubs including the Paddo Inn, the Light Brigade, the Bellevue Hotel, the Lord Dudley Hotel and Hotel Paddington. Trumper Park and Paddington Reservoir Gardens are the suburb`s best-known green spaces.
