South Coogee is a coastal residential suburb located nine kilometres southeast of Sydney`s Central Business District. As its name suggests, the suburb is found adjacent to Coogee`s southern border. History
While geographically close to Coogee, South Coogee, a beachside suburb, has over time developed a slightly different atmosphere and vibe to its better-known namesake neighbour. The suburb is considerably more family-friendly and laid-back in comparison to the hustle and bustle of Coogee. While Coogee`s popularity has seen many of its single home dwellings lost to low-density apartment blocks, much of South Coogee is still made up of free standing homes, with those on the water front commanding the best views and the highest property prices. Randwick Cemetery was established in the area in 1874 and features an array of historical tombstones and burial plots.
