Rushcutters Bay is a harbourside suburb located three kilometres east of Sydney's central business district, in the Eastern Suburbs. The suburb enjoys a relatively tranquil waterside atmosphere despite being so closely placed to central Sydney - a winning combination, which has resulted in its real estate being highly coveted. Rushcutters Bay is found between Potts Point to the west and Darling Point to the east. The western portion of Rushcutters Bay Park lies within the suburb, while its eastern side is bounded within the neighbouring suburb of Darling Point.
Location
History
Following European settlement, the area that makes up the suburb today was known as 'Rush Cutting Bay' as the swampy land was covered in tall rushes used by early pioneers to thatch houses. Rushcutters Bay Park was created in 1878 and continues to be enjoyed by residents and visitors alike today. Sydney Stadium - a sporting and entertainment venue - was built in the suburb in 1908, but was later demolished in 1970 to make room for the Eastern Suburbs Railway.

The western portion of Rushcutters Bay Park lies at the suburb's waterfront and includes Reg Bartley Oval. The remainder of this relatively small suburb consists largely of residential streets adjacent to Potts Point and Elizabeth Bay.
