Point Piper is an affluent harbourside suburb located six kilometres east of Sydney's central business district, in the Eastern Suburbs. Well known as Australia's most expensive suburb, Point Piper sits on an ideally-situated peninsula and enjoys sweeping views of Sydney Harbour, Sydney CBD, the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House. The suburb's lavish homes are coveted for their water views and convenient location. Point Piper is found to the north of Bellevue Hill and is surrounded by Sydney Harbour on its western, northern and eastern sides.
Location
History
Following European settlement, the suburb was named after Captain John Piper, who arrived in New South Wales in 1792 and built a neo-Palladian mansion in the present-day suburb in 1816. The suburb has historically always been a well-heeled area, with its proximity to central Sydney and its unrivalled waterside location proving to be perennially coveted features. Wolseley Road, in Point Piper's west, was ranked the world's ninth most expensive street in 2011.

Seven Shillings Beach, in the suburb's southwest, continues on into Double Bay. Point Piper is almost entirely residential, with commercial amenities found only in neighbouring Rose Bay and Double Bay. Duff Reserve and Lady Martins Beach are located in the suburb's north, while the Royal Motor Yacht Club of NSW is found in Point Piper's east, overlooking Rose Bay.
