History
The suburb sits on a "double" bay in between Darling Point and Point Piper, which is defined by a small point that juts out at the foreshore`s approximate centre. Located topographically within a valley, in the early decades of Australia`s European settlement, Double Bay was primarily used for lettuce and cattle farming. In subsequent decades, Double Bay became popular as a rowing location thanks to its relatively calm and sheltered waters.
