Darling Point is a charming and sought-after harbourside suburb located on a peninsula in Sydney`s Eastern Suburbs between Rushcutters Bay and Double Bay. Darling Point is named after Elizabeth Darling, the wife of Ralph Darling, Governor of New South Wales from 1825 to 1831. The suburb was originally known by Aboriginal people local to the area as Eurambi, Yarranabbi and Yaranabe, among other names. Yarranabbe Park, along with Rushcutters Bay Park, fronts almost all of Darling Point`s entire western foreshore and is a popular viewing spot for Sydney`s New Year’s Eve fireworks, thanks to its panoramic views across the water towards the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
The beautifully landscaped McKell Park is located at Darling Point`s northern tip and is a popular picnic and wedding spot.
