History
Carlingford, initially known as Mobbs Hill after early settler William Mobbs, has a rich history dating back to the early 1800s. The area became known as Carlingford in 1883, a name suggested by local orchardist Frederick Cox, likely in honour of Lord Carlingford or the town of Carlingford in Ireland. The suburb's history is deeply intertwined with agricultural development, particularly fruit orchards which dominated the local economy through the 19th and early 20th centuries. Significant historical sites include the Brush Farm House and St. Paul's Church.
