Bardwell Park is a leafy residential suburb, though it features a small commercial strip adjacent to the Bardwell Park railway station. The suburb sits directly south of the Wolli Creek Valley - which is the only notable parcel of bush land remaining in inner southwest Sydney. A pleasant and homey suburb, Bardwell Park is surrounded by a range of nature reserves and parkland.

History
Like many Sydney suburbs, Bardwell Park is named after the first European free settler to have had land holdings in the area - in this instance: Thomas Hill Bardwell. In the late 19th century, the suburb was subdivided, and the opening of its railway station in 1931 saw it gradually morph into a residential suburb of Sydney. Up until 2016, it was interestingly the only suburb in Sydney not to have traffic lights.

The Wolli Creek Valley, sitting adjacent to Bardwell Park's northern boundary, offers nature lovers an abundance of outdoor enjoyment. Many locals and visitors alike enjoy bushwalking, bird watching and picnicking in this inner-city bushland oasis. A 60-hectare regional park is also currently under development in the suburb.
