Rosebery is a mixed-use suburb located six kilometres south of Sydney's central business district. History
The suburb was named in honour of Archibald Phillip Primrose, the fifth Early of Rosebery and Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1894 to 1895. Primrose visited Australia for two months in 1883-84. Rosebery's southeastern residential housing stock predominantly consists of single-storey Federation Bungalows, California Bungalows and standard suburban detached homes. Historically, Rosebery had been known as a 'garden suburb', with regular garden competitions being held in the suburb prior to the 1990s.
